Nonlinear FEM analysis
Explicit dynamics, large-scale contact and material damage models - Abaqus + NX Simcenter.
Selected simulation work showing the range of nonlinear FEM problems I solve: explicit dynamics, high-contact-count statics and damage/plasticity material models (Abaqus + NX Simcenter, models up to ~1M elements).
Wave gearbox torque capacity: static nonlinear analysis of a rolling-element wave reducer with 100+ contact pairs. Ultimate torque before first yield determined by monitoring equivalent plastic strain across hardened-steel and bronze components.
Timber positioning interfaces: quasi-static explicit crush simulation of steel positioners on glulam beams at 2.5 / 5 / 10 mm misalignment, reproducing physical crush tests. Orthotropic wood plasticity with property scatter, cohesive glue lines and ductile damage in steel; force histories cleaned of inertia and filtered (SAE J211), verified by equilibrium checks.
Projectile impact study: dynamic explicit simulation of a jacketed projectile under vertical and oblique impact including spin; nine design variants compared for deformation response.
