Kinetic Clock - visible drive with compound gear train

Wall-mounted kinetic clock that exposes advanced torque-conversion stages.

Gear trainMechanismsPet projectongoing

Visible-drive kinetic wall clock that showcases advanced torque-conversion mechanisms - turning hidden motion into an engineered sculpture.

Four-stage drivetrain: planetary reducer - compound planetary differential - rolling-element wave gearbox - dual-wave pair.

Stage 1 - Planetary reducer: BLDC input shaped to smooth second-hand motion.

Stage 2 - Compound planetary differential: extra ratio + rotation inversion.

Stage 3 - Rolling-element wave gearbox: travelling wave; rollers mate with a profiled ring - minute-hand speed + direction change.

Stage 4 - Details intentionally omitted to protect IP - final 12× reduction for the hour hand.

Prototype machined and assembled - see photos below.
